Dear Madam/Sir, Further to notification 2019-060 dated 17 July 2019, I am writing to inform you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the thematic consultation on marine and coastal biodiversity for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, originally planned to take place from 6 to 8 November 2019, is being rescheduled. The meeting, which will now be referred to as the “thematic workshop on marine and coastal biodiversity for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework”, will be held from 13 to 15 November 2019 in Montreal, Canada. The Secretariat regrets any inconvenience that may result from this postponement and conveys its appreciation to those Parties and organizations who submitted their nominations in time. As originally specified in notification 2019-060, Parties, other Governments, relevant organizations and indigenous peoples and local communities are invited to nominate one expert to participate in the post-2020 thematic workshop. Nominations should include the name and full contact details of the nominee and should be submitted via an official letter addressed to the Executive Secretary and signed, respectively, by the National Focal Point or head of the organization/initiative. Nominations should be sent as soon as possible, but no later than 16 September 2019, via e-mail to secretariat@cbd.int or via fax to +1-514-288-6588. Please note that all nominations for this workshop previously sent to the Secretariat in response to notification 2019-060 will be considered in the selection process. Please contact the Secretariat if there is any change in your previously submitted nomination. Participants will be selected from among nominees based on relevant expertise and experience, taking into account gender balance and equitable geographical representation. The selected nominees from eligible Parties and a limited number of indigenous peoples and local communities will receive financing from the Secretariat to facilitate their participation in the consultation.
