Dear Madam/Sir, In its decision 15/19, the Conference of the Parties requested the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice to consider the findings of the IPBES Methodological Assessment Report on the Diverse Values and Valuation of Nature and of the Thematic Assessment of the Sustainable Use of Wild Species, and to provide recommendations relating to the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity and, in particular, of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its sixteenth meeting. Pursuant to this request, the twenty-fifth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 25) will be invited to consider the findings from the assessments by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services and their implications for the work undertaken under the Convention. Given the above, a one-day workshop prior to SBSTTA 25 is being convened by the Secretariat, with the support of the Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, on 13 October 2023, to provide an opportunity for the IPBES authors to present the above-mentioned assessment reports, as well as the summary for policymakers of the assessment report on invasive alien species and their control, pending its approval by the IPBES Plenary at its tenth session. The workshop will also aim to facilitate a discussion on the findings of these assessments and the use of these findings in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Participation in the workshop is open to all SBSTTA 25 registered participants. Financial support of delegates that are being funded by the Secretariat to participate in SBSTTA 25 will include participation in the IPBES workshop.
