Dear Madam/Sir, I would like to draw your attention to the invitation from the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) to take part in an open consultative process on the draft scoping report for the global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services. The draft report, prepared by a group of experts during a meeting in Bonn, Germany from 5 to 7 October 2015, is accessible at https://gallery.mailchimp.com/5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549/files/Draft_IPBES_Global_Scoping_Report_20151013.pdf. Views are sought on the proposed approach, in particular from the point of view of users of this future assessment. You are invited to provide your comments using the dedicated template (http://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&id=3fa3b70fe9&e=aee75565d8) and to send them to hien.ngo@ipbes.net no later than 3 November 2015. Following this round of comments, the document will be finalized by the group of experts and submitted for consideration by the IPBES Plenary at its fourth session, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 22 to 28 February 2016. Considering the relevance of these IPBES deliverables for the work of the Convention on Biological Diversity, I encourage you to contribute to this process.
