Notification 2016-032
Establishment of the Jury for the Clearing-House Mechanism (CHM) Award
Dear Madam/Sir, I refer to notifications 2015-068 and 2015-126, issued respectively on 15 June 2015 and 13 November 2015, in response to paragraph 15 of decision XII/2 B in which the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity requests the Executive Secretary to propose, in collaboration with the informal advisory committee to the clearing-house mechanism (CHM-IAC), a process to grant, at the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth meetings of the Conference of the Parties, subject to the availability of resources, an award to the Parties that have made the most significant progress in the establishment or further development of their national clearing-house mechanisms. These notifications are available online at www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2015/ntf-2015-068-chm-award-en.pdf and www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2015/ntf-2015-126-chm-award-reminder-en.pdf. At its meeting held on 30-31 October 2015 in Montreal, the informal advisory committee to the clearing-house mechanism, provided advice to the Executive Secretary on how to establish a jury in accordance with the modalities defined in notification 2015-068. Based on this advice and further to consultations with potential jury members, I am pleased to share with you, through the annex of this notification, the composition of the jury established for the CHM award to be granted at the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties. The main task of this jury will be to review the progress made by national clearing-house mechanisms based on the above-mentioned modalities in order to determine the winners. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all jury members for having kindly accepted to become members and for their forthcoming contributions to this process. Should you need any further information on this initiative, please do not hesitate to contact the CHM team by e mail at chm@cbd.int, especially if your country has not yet established its national clearing-house mechanism and wishes to do so in a near future.
