Dear Madam/Sir, As you know, the Government of the United Mexican States will host the high-level segment of the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-13) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) on 2 3 December 2016, in Cancun, Mexico. I am pleased to attach the provisional agenda for the high-level segment, provided by the Government of the United Mexican States, and developed in consultation with the Secretariat of the CBD. The provisional agenda is available in the official languages of the United Nations on the CBD website (https://www.cbd.int/cop/preparation/cop13-hls/default.shtml). A more detailed agenda along with background documents for relevant discussions will be made available in due course. One of the major expected outcomes of the high-level segment will be a political declaration. The Government of the United Mexican States will circulate a draft of the Cancun Declaration for your consideration shortly. Further to notification 2016-072 issued on 6 June 2016, I would like to take the opportunity to remind Parties that have not yet done so to kindly confirm their participation in the high-level segment to juan.mateos@semarnat.gob.mx and enrique.lendo@semarnat.gob.mx.
