Dear Madam/Sir, Further to notification 2018-061(https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2018/ntf-2018-061-hls-2018-en.pdf), I am pleased to inform you that the draft of the “Sharm El-Sheikh Declaration – Investing in Biodiversity for People and Planet” is now available for comments. The Declaration has a focus on mainstreaming biodiversity in the sectors of energy and mining, infrastructure, manufacturing and processing, and health, in the broader context of sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. It is expected that the High-level Segment will adopt the Sharm El-Sheikh Declaration. The Government of Egypt is circulating the draft Declaration through its diplomatic channels. Comments and suggestions on the draft can be sent to Dr. Hamdallah Zedan, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee and COP 14 National Focal Point at: hamdallah.cop14@eeaa.gov.eg, with copy to: hls-egypt@cbd.int as soon as possible but no later than 15 October 2018. The draft Declaration is also posted on the High-level Segment webpage (https://www.cbd.int/conferences/2018/cop-14-hls/documents) in the official languages of the United Nations.
