Dear Madam/Sir, I refer to four recent notifications issued by the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) regarding opportunities to participate in ongoing and planned activities conducted by the Platform. • Notification EM/2021/16 (https://ipbes.net/sites/default/files/2021-07/em_2021_16_deadline _extension_conceptual framework_review.pdf) concerns the extension of the review period of the study on the use and impact of the IPBES conceptual framework to 30 September 2021. The review opened on 11 June 2021. • Notification EM/2021/17 (https://ipbes.net/sites/default/files/2021-07/em_2021_17_nominations_nexus_transformative_en_0.pdf) invites Governments and other relevant stakeholders to nominate experts to participate in the thematic assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health (nexus assessment) and the thematic assessment of the underlying causes of biodiversity loss and the determinants of transformative change and options for achieving the 2050 Vision for Biodiversity (transformative change assessment). Applications can be submitted until 6 September 2021. • Notification EM/2021/19 (https://ipbes.net/sites/default/files/2021-08/em_2021_19_nominations_of_fellows_nexus-transformative_change_assessments_EN.pdf) invites Governments and other relevant stakeholders to nominate early-career scientists to participate as fellows in the above-mentioned assessments. Applications can be submitted until 20 September 2021. • Notification EM/2021/20 (https://ipbes.net/sites/default/files/2021-08/em_2021_20_save the date_review_of_the_draft_nature_futures_framework.pdf) concerns the start of the external review of the draft Nature Futures Framework and methodological guidance on 6 September 2021. The review will be open until 31 October 2021. Considering the relevance of these IPBES deliverables for the work of the Convention on Biological Diversity, I encourage Parties and observers, as appropriate, to participate in these processes.
