Biofuels in Africa
In this report we discuss a wide array of environmental and socio-economic impacts, as they relate to jatropha biodiesel and sugarcane ethanol in Africa. A major challenge for obtaining a comprehensive picture of biofuel tradeoffs is the fact that the biofuel literature is multidisciplinary and rapidly expanding. This report employs the ecosystem services framework developed during the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA), as a means of synthesizing the available evidence about biofuel impacts and identifying the main trade-offs associated with biofuels in Africa.

Bioversity International
Bioversity International
is a research-for-development organization working with partners worldwide to use and conserve agricultural biodiversity to improve lives, sustain the planet and provide resilient, productive agricultural systems. Bioversity International is a member of the CGIAR Consortium, a global research partnership for a food secure future.
Bioversity International Annual Report 2011
illustrates examples of our work to improve sustainability, nutrition, livelihoods and conservation in the past year. Here you will also find information about our Board of Trustees, supporters and 2011 publications.
Improving Community Livelihoods NUS
illustrates Bioversity International’s Neglected and Underutilized species project. Neglected and underutilized species are abandoned by communities, marginalized by mainstream agriculture, often ignored by research and absent from diets, yet play a crucial role in the food security, income generation and food culture of the rural poor.
Bioversity International factsheet
provides a quick overview of our research that places the use and conservation of agricultural biodiversity in smallholder farming systems at the centre of our work.
