The list of selected experts for the Ad hoc technical expert group meeting on Gaps and Inconsistencies in the International Regulatory Frameworks on Invasive Alien Species which will meet in Auckland, New Zealand from 16 to 20 May 2005 is provided in Annex I and the provisional agenda in Annex II of this notification.

Dear Madam/Sir, At its seventh meeting, the Conference of the Parties (COP) requested, in paragraph 9 of its decision VII/13, the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) to establish an ad hoc technical expert group (AHTEG) to address gaps and inconsistencies in the international regulatory framework at global and regional levels, in particular the specific gaps identified in paragraph 7 of the same decision, and make recommendations to SBSTTA prior to the ninth meeting of the COP for the full and effective implementation of Article 8(h) of the Convention. At its tenth meeting, recently held in Bangkok, Thailand, the SBSTTA formally established the AHTEG. Further to our Notification dated 17 November 2004 (ref. 2004-097 and SCBD/STTM/LR/45602) inviting Parties to the Convention to nominate experts with professional competence and expertise relating to invasive alien species, we received 45 nominations from Parties and other Governments.
