Further to our Notification dated 20 December 2004 (<a href='/doc/notifications/2004/ntf-2004-110-bs-en.pdf'>Ref.: SCBD/BS/CS/jh/45183</a>), I am pleased to remind you that the first meeting of the Ah Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Liability and Redress in the Context of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (<a href='/doc/meeting.aspx?mtg=BSWGLR-01'>BSLR WG-1</a>) will be held in Montreal, Canada, from 23 to 27 May 2005 back-to-back with the second meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (<a href='/doc/meeting.aspx?mtg=MOP-02'>COP-MOP/2</a>), which will take place from 30 May to 3 June 2005.

Dear Madam/Sir, Further to our Notification dated 20 December 2004 (Ref.: SCBD/BS/CS/jh/45183), I am pleased to remind you that the first meeting of the Ah Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Liability and Redress in the Context of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (BSLR WG-1) will be held in Montreal, Canada, from 23 to 27 May 2005 back-to-back with the second meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP/2), which will take place from 30 May to 3 June 2005. The following pre-session documents for the meeting: provisional agenda, its annotations and the Report of the meeting of the Technical Group of Experts on Liability and Redress are posted on the Secretariat’s website, at www.biodiv.org. Other information documents for the meeting will be made available as soon as finalized. As it had been announced earlier in the Notification dated 20 December 2004, please note once again that subject to the availability of contributions to the Special Voluntary Trust Fund (BI) established by decision BS-I/10 for facilitating participation of Parties in the Protocol process, the Secretariat will be in a position to finance the participation of only one representative from each of the developing countries Parties to the Protocol, including the least developed countries, small island developing States, other developing countries and countries with economies in transition, for both meetings. The participation of additional representative(s) will have to be funded directly by your Government. For those who have not yet done so, you are kindly reminded to advise the Secretariat of the name(s) and coordinates of your government’s officially designated representative(s) to these meetings at your earliest convenience but no later than 15 April 2005 to enable travel arrangements to be made for eligible participants in good time. In view of the budget constraints and in order to allow the maximum number of countries to participate in the meetings, the Secretariat would be using special air fare tickets for sponsored delegates, which impose restrictions with respect to the changing of passenger’s name, travel dates and itinerary.
