Notification 2006-078

Dear Madam/Sir, In its decision VIII/14, paragraph 9, the Conference of the Parties invited Parties, on a voluntary basis, to provide information, additional to that submitted in national reports, which could be useful for the in-depth review of the thematic programmes foreseen in the multi-year programme of work of the Conference of the Parties up to 2010. In accordance with the schedule annexed to that decision, the expanded programme of work on forest biological diversity will be one of the thematic areas for in-depth review by the Conference of the Parties at its ninth meeting. Therefore, I am inviting Parties to submit any information on the implementation of the expanded programme of work on forest biological diversity, additional to that requested in the third national report, preferably no later than 31 December 2006. The review of the implementation of the expanded programme of work on forest biological diversity will include any additional information on national-level implementation submitted in response to this notification. It will be considered by the thirteenth meeting of the SBSTTA prior to the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties. The guidelines contained in annex III to decision VIII/14 and the annex to decision VIII/19 will be followed in the preparation of the review.
