Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety .

Dear Madam/Sir, The Executive Secretary is pleased to announce, that following a competitive process of selection, Mr. Charles Gbedemah, a national from Ghana has been appointed as Senior Environmental Affairs Officer to the Biosafety Unit of the Secretariat. Mr. Gbedemah holds a Master’s degree in Mycology from the University of Ghana and brings on board a wide range of experience to the Biosafety Programme. He was involved in biotechnology research at the national level for over 20 years. He was the sole negotiator for his country during the Protocol negotiations while leading the development of the Ghana National Biosafety Framework (NBF). Before joining the Secretariat, Mr. Gbedemah was the Regional Coordinator for UNEP/GEF capacity building project since 2001 and assisted 40 African countries to prepare their National Biosafety Frameworks.
