Dear Madam/Sir, In Decision VII/14, the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity adopted the Guidelines on Biodiversity and Tourism Development. In order to increase clarity and facilitate the detailed understanding of the guidelines and their implementation, the COP also requested the development of a user’s manual, checklists, as well as a glossary of terms used in the Guidelines. I am pleased to inform you that, after a comprehensive consultative process, and with the financial support of the Government of Germany, the Secretariat has finalized a users’ manual entitled "Managing Tourism and Biodiversity", which is accessible at: http://www.biodiv.org/doc/programmes/socio-eco/tourism/tourism-manual-en.pdf Copies will be sent to all CBD National Focal Points, related United Nations Organizations, leading experts, NGOs and industry associations.
