Notification 2008-050

Dear Madam/Sir, The purpose of this notification is to inform CBD National Focal points, as well as SBSTTA and GTI Focal Points, about the eighth meeting of the Coordination Mechanism for the Global Taxonomy Initiative to be held on 31 May 2008 in Bonn, Germany, at the margins of the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 9). The COP 9 will consider the GTI under agenda item 4.11. The eighth meeting of the GTI Coordination Mechanism will discuss progress and further coordination of work. The ten members of the Coordination Mechanism were selected in consultation with the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA). The members of the Coordination Mechanism, as well as other organizations, have been invited to participate in this meeting. The composition of the GTI Coordination Mechanism is presented in annex I, and the draft provisional agenda for the meeting is provided in annex II.
