Notification 2009-088

Reminder - Nominations for the Regional Workshop for Asia and the Pacific on the Review of Implementation of the Programme of Work on Protected Areas

Dear Madam/Sir, Reference is made to my earlier notification 2009-062 issued 9 June 2009 calling for nominations for the Regional Workshop for Asia and the Pacific on the Review of Implementation of the Programme of Work on Protected Areas to be held (now extended by one day) from 13 to 16 October 2009 in Dehradun, India. I extend my gratitude to those countries which have responded to the notification and nominated a delegate to attend the workshop (Cambodia, China, India, Iran, Kiribati, Micronesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan). I call upon the remaining countries to kindly submit their nomination of one delegate before 14 August 2009, to allow time for the Secretariat to arrange the most economic travel to the workshop. Due to budgetary constraints, funding for nominations received past this date can not be guaranteed. Please provide the name and coordinates of your nominee via official letter addressed to the Executive Secretary (faxed to +1 (514) 288-6588, or scanned and sent via email to secretariat@cbd.int). The in-depth review of the PoWPA is based inter alia on information contained in Appendix III of the fourth national reports. The nominees of those countries that have not submitted their fourth national reports are required to submit Appendix III, well in time to prepare the documentation for the regional workshop. We look forward to receiving your reports and nominations. I thank you in advance for your cooperation and your continued support for the work of the Convention. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Executive Secretary
