List of Selected Experts for the Expert Workshop on Scientific and Technical Aspects Relevant to Environmental Impact Assessment in Marine Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction, Manila, Philippines, 18 – 20 November 2009

Dear Madam/Sir, Pursuant to the request by the Conference of the Parties to the Convention in its decision IX/20, paragraph 10, I am convening, with financial support from the European Commission, an expert workshop on scientific and technical aspects relevant to environmental impact assessment in marine areas beyond national jurisdiction, in Manila, Philippines, from 18 to 20 November 2009. In this regard, in Notification Ref: 2009-040, dated 22 April 2009, and subsequently Notification Ref: 2009-084, dated 24 July 2009, the Secretariat invited CBD National Focal Points, other Governments, and relevant organizations, including indigenous and local communities, to nominate experts for the workshop. After due consideration, in consultation with the COP Bureau, the experts were selected based on selection criteria provided in the said notifications, taking into account regional and sectoral participation and gender balance. The list of selected experts, provided in the annex to this Notification, includes 22 experts nominated by Parties, other Governments, and relevant organizations.
