Dear Madam/Sir, The thirty-sixth meeting of the Council of the Global Environment Facility was held from 10-12 November 2009 in Washington, D.C. The GEF Council approved a work program comprising nine project concepts in the focal area of biodiversity, in the amount of US$22.6 million in GEF grant. The Council also agreed to a number of design elements for the System for a Transparent Allocation of Resources (STAR). In addition, the Council welcomed the GEF’s continued support for the principles outlined in the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agenda for Action.
