Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to inform you that the tenth meeting of the Coordination Mechanism for the Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI) will be held in Nagoya, Japan, on 24 October 2010 on the margins of the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10). The tenth meeting of the GTI Coordination Mechanism has the mandate to review the terms of reference for the members of the Coordination Mechanism and to draw a roadmap for developing a biodiversity-centred capacity development strategy for 2020, taking into account the report of its ninth meeting held in Nairobi in May 2010. The members of the Coordination Mechanism, as well as other organizations, have been invited to participate in this meeting. Please find attached the structure of the GTI Coordination Mechanism (Annex I), and the draft provisional agenda for the meeting (Annex II).
