Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to confirm that the resumed ninth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Access and Benefit-sharing (WG ABS 9) will be held at the Nagoya Congress Center in Nagoya, Japan, on 16 October 2010. The provisional agenda of the meeting is attached for your information and is available on the CBD website at: http://www.cbd.int/meetings/. Other documents for the meeting as well as the information note for participants will be made available as soon as practicable on the website of the Convention at the same address. The Working Group is expected to consider the results of the meeting of the Interregional Negotiating Group (ING) on ABS, to be held from 18-21 September 2010, and to finalize the international regime for consideration and adoption by the Conference of the Parties at its tenth meeting. In view of your interest in the issues addressed by the Working Group, I have the honour of inviting indigenous and local community organizations to nominate a representative to attend. Designation of representatives, containing their name and contact details, should be submitted through official letters to be addressed to the Executive Secretary of the Secretariat by fax to +1 514 288 6588, or by email as a scanned attachment to: secretariat@cbd.int, as soon as possible but no later than 22 September 2010.
