Joint Summary of the Chairs, GEF Council Meeting, November 16 - 18, 2010

Dear Madam/Sir, The thirty-ninth meeting of the Council of the Global Environment Facility was held from 16-18 November 2010 in Washington, D.C., United States of America. The GEF Council approved a work program of five Project Identification Forms (PIFs), including two biodiversity projects, in the amount of $157.68 million. The Council agreed that the GEF shall launch a pilot on accrediting new agencies under Paragraph 28 of the Instrument, and priority shall be given to the accreditation of national institutions. New agencies accredited to the GEF shall be referred to as GEF Project Agencies. If new rules are developed and applied to accredited GEF Project Agencies, then they shall also be applied to the existing GEF Agencies, as appropriate, in order to maintain a level playing field. I have the honour to transmit, for your information, the Joint Summary of the Chairs of this meeting. Please accept, Sir/Madam, the assurances of my highest consideration.
