Expedited GEF Support for the Second National Report on Biosafety
Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to forward you the communication from Mrs. Monique Barbut, Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), with respect to the access to GEF funding for preparing the second national reports on the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, which are due on 30 September 2011. The Secretariat has been working very closely with the Secretariat of the Global Environment Facility, in order to assist in your efforts to prepare the second national reports on the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. Three umbrella medium-sized project proposals are currently under preparation, with a view to expediting financial support to second national reports on biosafety, and their final approvals are expected shortly.
