List of selected indigenous and local community representatives to receive funding from the Voluntary Trust Fund for participation in the First Meeting of the Open-ended Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on ABS (ICNP-1), 6 - 10 June 2011, Montreal, Canada

Dear Madam/Sir, In connection with the First Meeting of the Open-ended Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on ABS (ICNP-1), I am pleased to inform Parties and stakeholders that, after due consideration of all nominations received, the selection of representatives of indigenous and local communities to receive financial assistance in support of their participation in the above-mentioned meeting has been completed. The list of beneficiaries of financial assistance is attached for information. The selected participants will be contacted directly by the Secretariat with regard to travel arrangements. The selection was carried out in accordance with the criteria for the operation of the Voluntary Funding Mechanism to facilitate the participation of indigenous and local communities in the work of the CBD set out in decision VIII/5 D, Annex, of the Conference of the Parties, and in accordance with the selection criteria established in section B of the Annex. I also take this opportunity to thank the European Union for their on-going support of the voluntary trust fund for the participation of representatives of indigenous and local community representatives in meetings held under the Convention.
