Notification 2011-213

Dear Madam/Sir, Reference is made to notification 2011-143, dated 1 August 2011, in which Parties were invited to submit, by 15 September 2011, comments on two draft questionnaires prepared by the Executive Secretary to facilitate the submission of views and information on: • Domestic needs and priorities for capacity-building and development in support of the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on ABS; and • Proposed elements of a strategic framework for capacity-building and development under the Nagoya Protocol. In light of the comments received by Parties, the questionnaires have been revised and the final versions are being circulated herewith. Parties, other Governments, international organizations, indigenous and local communities and relevant stakeholders are invited to fill out both questionnaires, as contained in Annex I and II of the attached documents, as soon as possible and no later than 15 November 2011. As requested in recommendation 1/2 of the first meeting of the Open-ended Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (ICNP), the Executive Secretary will prepare a synthesis of the views and information received for consideration by the second meeting of the ICNP. Two versions of the questionnaires have been prepared in order to allow you to provide your answers in electronic or non-electronic format. With a view to facilitate the process of filling-out the questionnaires and in order to assist the Secretariat in compiling the responses, you are invited to fill out the questionnaires electronically using Microsoft Word. Alternatively, for those not able to fill out the questionnaires electronically, you are invited to fill out the non-electronic version. Please note that the questionnaires should be submitted with an official letter addressed to the Executive Secretary by fax to +1 514 288 6588, or by email as a scanned attachment to: secretariat@cbd.int. The questionnaires are available in English, French and Spanish at: www.cbd.int/notifications/.
