Reminder: Follow-up to the second meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol and preparations for COP 11

Dear Madam/Sir, The purpose of this notification is to invite Parties to submit information to the Executive Secretary in preparation for the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties. At its second meeting, in paragraph 1 of recommendation 2/8 on "Other matters", the Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (Intergovernmental Committee) invited Parties to submit information to the Executive Secretary with respect to the steps taken towards ratification and implementation of the Nagoya Protocol. In paragraph 2, the Executive Secretary was requested to compile the information received and to make it available to the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties. In addition, in paragraph 4 of the same recommendation, the Intergovernmental Committee invited Parties to submit information to the Executive Secretary on additional issues that may need to be addressed in preparation for the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol (COP-MOP) and requested the Executive Secretary to compile this information and make it available for the consideration of the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties. In light of the above, Parties are invited to submit information to the Executive Secretary as soon as possible and no later than 1 September 2012. Please note that all submissions should be sent through an official letter addressed to the Executive Secretary by e-mail to secretariat@cbd.int . To facilitate the compilation of the information provided by Parties, all submissions should be provided in Word Format. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
