Dear Madam/Sir, This is to inform you that the term of some members of the Compliance Committee under the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety is due to expire on 31 December 2014. The Members of the Committee whose terms will end at the end of the year are: 1. Africa region: Mr. Abisai Mafa; 2. Group of Latin America and the Caribbean: Mr. Alejandro Hernandez; 3. Western Europe and Others Group: Mrs. Clare Hamilton; 4. Central and Eastern Europe: Ms. Natalya Minchenko; and 5. Asia-Pacific: Dr. Yousef Al-Hafedh. It is, therefore, my pleasure to invite regional groups to consult among themselves and to come to the seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Protocol in Pyeonchang, Republic of Korea, prepared to make one nomination each of suitable candidates per region for election to serve on the Compliance Committee for the next four years.
