Selected representatives of indigenous peoples and local communities to receive funding from the Voluntary Trust Fund for participation in the nineteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 19), 2 to 5 November 2015, and the ninth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Article 8(j) and Related Provisions (WG8J 9), 4 to 7 November 2015, Montreal, Canada

Dear Madam/Sir, In connection with the nineteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 19) to be held from 2 to 5 November 2015 and the ninth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Article 8(j) and Related Provisions (WG8J 9) from 4 to 7 November 2015, I am pleased to inform Parties and stakeholders that, after due consideration of all nominations received, the selection of representatives of indigenous peoples and local communities to receive financial assistance in support of their participation in the above-mentioned meetings has been completed and approved by the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties. The list of beneficiaries of financial assistance is attached for information. The selected participants will be contacted directly by the Secretariat with regard to travel arrangements. More participants may be added subject to availability of funds. The selection was carried out in accordance with the criteria for the operation of the Voluntary Funding Mechanism to facilitate the participation of indigenous and local communities in the work of the Convention on Biological Diversity set out in the annex to decision VIII/5 D of the Conference of the Parties, and in accordance with the selection criteria established in section B of the annex.
