Selected participants for the Technical Expert Workshop on Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) for Achieving Aichi Biodiversity Target 11, 6-9 February 2018, Montreal, Canada

Dear Madam/Sir, This is in reference to notification 2017-099, dated 5 October 2017, inviting Parties, relevant organizations and indigenous peoples and local communities to nominate experts for the technical expert workshop on other effective area-based conservation measures for achieving Aichi Biodiversity Target 11, to take place in Montreal, Canada from 6 to 9 February 2018. Based on the nominations received and in consultation with the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice, experts were selected taking into account their relevant expertise and the need to ensure geographical distribution and gender balance, in line with the criteria outlined in the above notification. I am pleased to attach, as an annex to this notification, the list of the selected experts. Please note that the workshop is being convened with financial support from the Government of Italy. The Secretariat will, therefore, finance the participation of selected experts from eligible Parties. Funding and invitation letters are already sent to the selected experts with a copy to National Focal Points where appropriate.
