Peer review of CBD Technical Series No. 87: Assessing Progress towards Aichi Biodiversity Target 6 on Sustainable Fisheries

Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to circulate for peer review the draft version of a technical document, Assessing Progress towards Aichi Biodiversity Target 6 on Sustainable Fisheries. This draft was prepared by the Fisheries Expert Group of the IUCN Commission of Ecosystem Management, on the basis of the Expert Meeting on Improving Progress Reporting and Working towards Implementation of Aichi Biodiversity Target 6, held in Rome, from 9 to 11 February 2016, the report of which was welcomed by decisions XIII/9 and XIII/28 of the Conference of the Parties. An earlier version of the document was made available for the twenty-second meeting of the CBD Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (Draft scientific assessment of progress towards the achievement of Aichi Biodiversity Target 6, CBD/SBSTTA/22/INF/28). Following peer review, this document will be revised, as appropriate, and published in the CBD Technical Series (https://www.cbd.int/ts/), with a view to assisting Parties, other Governments and relevant organizations in accelerating and monitoring progress in the achievement of Target 6, as well as informing deliberations on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The draft document is accessible at https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2019/cbd-ts87-peer-review-en.pdf and a template for providing review comments is available at https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2019/cbd-ts87-template-for-comments-en.doc. Comments, making use of the review template referred to above should be sent by e-mail to secretariat@cbd.int or by fax to +1 514 288 6588, no later than 14 June 2019. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
