Selected experts for the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Invasive Alien Species, Montreal, Canada from 2 to 4 December 2019

Dear Madam/Sir, The selection of experts for the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Invasive Alien Species (AHTEG) has now been concluded and I am pleased, therefore, to announce the composition of the AHTEG attached herewith. As you may recall, in notification 2019-078 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2019/ntf-2019-078-ias-en.docx), dated 13 September 2019, Parties, other Governments and relevant organizations were invited to nominate experts to serve on the AHTEG. The selection was carried out by the Secretariat, in consultation with the SBSTTA Bureau, in accordance with the modus operandi of the Subsidiary Body (https://www.cbd.int/doc/meetings/cop/cop-08/official/cop-08-16-add4-en.pdf), taking into account the expertise of the nominated experts and their contributions during the online forum, held in the period from 1 May to 15 September 2019, and with due regard to geographical representation and gender balance. I am pleased to inform you that the AHTEG will meet from 2 to 4 December 2019 in Montreal, Canada, back-to-back with the twenty-third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-23), with generous financial support from the Government of Norway. The meeting will be held in accordance with para 5 of decision 14/11 of the Conference of the Parties and will follow the Terms of Reference stipulated in Annex II to the same decision. The selected experts from eligible Parties will be contacted directly by the Secretariat with regards to their travel arrangements.
