Dear Madam/Sir, The purpose of this notification is to inform you of the 2020 Global Youth Biodiversity Summit in Miyazaki that will be held from 20 to 26 April 2020 in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, and to invite you to encourage youth from your country/organization to apply to participate. The 2020 Global Youth Biodiversity Summit in Miyazaki will gather youth from around the world to celebrate 10 years of youth engagement in the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity and to further empower and mobilize youth to contribute to the development and implementation of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The Summit will prepare a policy document on the post-2020 framework and strengthen the capacity of youth to develop biodiversity projects and initiatives in support of its implementation. It will also provide youth with a unique opportunity to link up with initiatives related to biodiversity at all levels. The 2020 Global Youth Biodiversity Summit in Miyazaki is organized by the Global Youth Biodiversity Network, hosted by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, and supported by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Japan Biodiversity Fund, in collaboration with other organizations and networks. As part of the series of meetings providing inputs to the process for the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, the Summit will share its outcomes with Parties and stakeholders in the context of the upcoming CBD intergovernmental meetings and other relevant processes on the road to the UN Biodiversity Conference in October 2020 in Kunming, China.
