Thematic Consultation on the Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity for the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework - Virtual Meeting

Dear Madam/Sir, Further to notifications 2020-009 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2020/ntf-2020-009-post2020-en.pdf) and 2020-029 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2020/ntf-2020-029-upcomings-en.pdf), I am pleased to announce that the Thematic Consultation on the Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity for the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, previously scheduled on 30 March - 1 April 2020, in Bern, Switzerland, will now be held online, in order to ensure the consideration of further views on elements related to the sustainable use of biological diversity for the post 2020 global biodiversity framework. The virtual consultation will take the form of an online survey, a series of webinars and an online discussion forum. The series of webinars will be comprised of two sessions. The first webinar will include expert presentations, provide further details on the process of the consultation and open the period for completing the survey. The online forum will discuss the preliminary results of the survey. The second webinar will present the outcomes of all discussions. Both webinars will be conducted in English. The following dates have been set for the survey, online forum and webinars: First Webinar –27 July 2020 Online Survey – from 27 July to 17 August 2020 Online Forum – from 7 to 11 September 2020 Second Webinar – week of 5 October 2020 An updated concept note, including further information and a complete timeline of proposed activities, as well as a number of documents prepared by the Secretariat will be made available soon at the following link: https://www.cbd.int/conferences/post2020/POST2020-WS-2020-04/documents. All participants are invited to register at https://bit.ly/3fd6x5T by 23 July 2020. Those who previously registered for the Consultation scheduled on 30 March – 1 April 2020, in Bern, Switzerland will have priority for registration.
