Dear Madam/Sir, Further to notification 2021-060 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2021/ntf-2021-060-cop15-hls-en.pdf) which informed Parties that invitations to the High-Level Segment of the first part of the Fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 15) and the concurrent meetings of the Parties to the Cartagena and Nagoya Protocols had been dispatched by its host, the People’s Republic of China, I am pleased to share with Parties important information, through the enclosed scenario note, regarding the modalities of the High-Level Segment, including the roundtable sessions. I would like to urge Parties that have been invited to the High-Level Segment and have not yet responded, to please confirm participation to tian.fang@fecomee.org.cn with copy to secretariat@cbd.int as soon as possible. Participation in the High-Level Segment is of strategic importance to strengthen efforts not only to advance implementation of the Convention and its Protocols towards the 2050 Vision, but also to drive political impetus towards the development of an ambitious and effective post 2020 global biodiversity framework, to be adopted in Kunming next year. I would like to remind Parties that the invitation to participate in the High-Level Segment is also extended to other Ministers of your countries, such as Ministers with portfolios relating to finance, economy, climate change, food and agriculture, technology and innovation, to facilitate a multi-sectoral dialogue aimed at further integrating discussions under each theme proposed in the High-Level Segment programme.
