Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services: Review of the second order draft of the chapters and the first order draft of the summary for policymakers of the invasive alien species assessment

Dear Madam/Sir, I refer to a recent notification (EM/2021/39 (https://www.ipbes.net/notification/live-now/IAS-assessment-review/sod-chapters_and_fod-spm)) issued by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) inviting interested stakeholders to participate in the review of the second order draft of the chapters and the first order draft of the summary for policymakers of the Platform’s invasive alien species assessment by 15 February 2022. Considering that invasive alien species are one of the main drivers of biodiversity loss and in view of the relevance of this IPBES deliverable to the work of the Convention on Biological Diversity, I encourage Parties and observers, as appropriate, to participate in this review process. Governments and experts wishing to participate in the review need to first register on the IPBES website (https://ipbes.net/user/register), if they have not already done so and subsequently register to review the draft assessment available from https://ipbes.net/registration/invasive-alien-species-assessment/sod. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
