Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to inform you that the opening ceremony of the UN Biodiversity Conference will be taking place in the afternoon of 6 December 2022 in the main Plenary Hall of the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Registered delegates are kindly requested to be in the Palais des congrès and seated in the Plenary Hall located on the 5th floor by 3:00 p.m. latest. The opening ceremony will include the following: • Ceremonial welcome by the traditional Chief of the Onondaga Nation, Tadodaho Sid Hill • Address by the Prime Minister of Canada, The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau • Address by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres • Address by the Minister of Ecology and Environment of China, His Excellency Huang Runqiu • Address by the Premier of Quebec, Mr. François Legault • Address by the Mayor of Montreal, Ms. Valérie Plante • Address by the Mayor of Kunming, Mr. Liu Jiachen • Cultural presentation presented in cooperation with Canada's National Arts Centre The opening ceremony will be followed by a reception hosted by the Government of China at 6:00 p.m. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
