NEW DATE: International Forum facilitated by the Forest Ecosystem Restoration Initiative: Workshop on ecosystem restoration-related planning and capacity-building needs for the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework

Dear Madam/Sir, Reference is made to notification 2023-064, issued on 14 June 2023, inviting Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant global and regional organizations and initiatives to nominate experts to participate in a workshop on ecosystem restoration-related planning and capacity-building needs for the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. I regret to inform you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the workshop originally planned to be held virtually on 13 July 2023 has been rescheduled to 12 September 2023 at 10:00 a.m. EDT. I would like to thank Parties, indigenous peoples and local communities and relevant organizations that have already submitted nominations. These nominees will be retained and contacted to ensure they will be able to participate on the new date. I wish to remind those that have not yet done so to nominate experts. As stated in notification 2023-064, the criteria to follow when submitting nominations include that the nominee should: a) Have a responsibility for developing or updating National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans and making decisions on ecosystem restoration or land use/spatial planning; b) Be able to complete a post-workshop survey on capacity-building needs for planning and implementation of ecosystem restoration; and c) Be in a position to translate information and knowledge gained into actions to enhance policy and planning coherence on ecosystem restoration. Nominations must also include: i) an official letter addressed to the Executive Secretary, signed by the national focal point or head of the organization/initiative, indicating the name and full contact details of the nominees; and ii) the curriculum vitae of the nominees, clearly indicating their areas of expertise and experience. All nominations must be received by 1 September 2023 (scanned and attached to an e-mail addressed to secretariat@cbd.int). Workshop materials will be sent to the selected participants and will also be posted at the following webpage: https://www.cbd.int/meetings/ER-WS-2023-01 . The workshop will be held in English. The Secretariat regrets any inconvenience that may result from the rescheduling of the workshop.
