CBD COP 15: Strengthening Synergies through the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

CBD COP 15: Strengthening Synergies through the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and Promoting Transformational Change to Restore Balance with Nature

Side Event at UNFCCC COP 26
Saturday, 6 November 2021, from 11:45 to 13:15 UK time
Climate Action Room 1 of the SSE Hydro Bowl (Blue Zone), UNFCCC COP26 Venue, Glasgow
Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)

Convened by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the side event will focus on how best to leverage action, policies, programmes, and multi-stakeholder partnerships to advance the implementation of global agreements, such as the post‑2020 global biodiversity framework, the Paris Agreement, the Land Degradation Neutrality Goal, the Sustainable Development Goals and other global frameworks, in order to maximize co-benefits and leave no one behind.

The event will allow high-level representatives from governments, the UN system, private sector, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, and civil society to showcase the many different levers available to strengthen synergies to successfully address the connected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and desertification through the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. In doing so, the event will also help to build political momentum for the adoption of a strong and ambitious post-2020 global biodiversity framework at the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the CBD.

The event will be streamed through the UNFCCC COP 26 public webcast portal on 6 November 2021, from 11:45 to 13:15 UK time, at the following URL: https://unfccc-cop26.streamworld.de/program.

The programme of the event is also available.
