About the event
The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity hosted a webinar on 7 March 2023 to inform and update Parties, indigenous peoples and local communities and stakeholders on decision 15/10 regarding the development of a new programme of work and institutional arrangements on Article 8(j) and other provisions of the Convention related to indigenous peoples and local communities.
The webinar aimed to clarify the rationale, objectives, and methodology of the approaching negotiations for the new programme of work on, and possible institutional arrangements and their modus operandi for indigenous peoples and local communities. During the webinar, a summary of the decisions related to indigenous peoples and local communities made at the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) was presented, focusing on the peer review process and Ad-Hoc Technical Expert Group on the new programme of work and institutional arrangements, and next steps.
