Breakfast: Ministerial Meeting of Like-minded Megadiverse Countries (LMMC) Group (15 November)

The group of LMMCs was formed in 2002 by 14 of the 17 megadiversity countries as described by Conservation International (Mittermeier et al., 1997), along with Bolivia, Costa Rica and Kenya, as a mechanism for consultation and cooperation to promote interests related to the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity. Additional countries joined in the ensuing years, bringing the total to 20 countries when Ethiopia was invited to join in 2016. In that same year, the LMMCs formally adopted a Carta to Achieve Aichi Biodiversity Target 11.
