The Humboldt Institute works under a socio-ecological approach to generate relevant knowledge aimed at sustainability and equitable governance.

The Humboldt Institute's mission is to promote, coordinate and conduct research that contributes to knowledge, conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity for the development and welfare of the Colombian population. We also network with multiple organisations to influence decision-making and public policy.

The Humboldt Institute contributes directly to Aichi Biodiversity Targets 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, and 20.
