  • The Green Wave in Japan - グリーンウェイブ2011
    As a way to celebrate the 2011 International Day for Biodiversity, the Japanese government launched, on 2 February, a 2011 Green Wave campaign to respond to a call by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) inviting governments and other stakeholders to participate in "The Green Wave", a tree planting campaign for children and youth around the world, at 10:00 AM local time on the IDB • Press release announcing the launch of the campaign.
    The Ministry of the Environment (MOE), in coordination with the Forestry Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, is also calling for the participation in The Green Wave 2011, in which children and youth plant and water trees during the period from March 1st through June 15th. A Japanese Green Wave website was established to share the information on the activities over the country.
    Furthermore, this year is the "International Year of Forests" proclaimed by the United Nations as well as the launching year of the "United Nations Decade on Biodiversity"

  • International Summit for Ever Green Forest日本語
    One of several events in Japan for the International Day for Biological Diversity was the International Summit for Ever Green Forest, held in Aya city, Miyazaki (Draft Programme). 530 people from Japan, Korea, China and Bhutan participated to this conference. The second International conference will probably held within a few years at another location. A "Declaration of the International TERUHA Forest Conference" was produced and is available in Japanese and English.
