  • Place: Dongbekdongsan Ramsar Wetland -Sunheul Gotjawal forest, Jeju island
  • The International Day for Biological Diversity will be celebrated on Jeju Island, in the Republic of Korea, through an event co-hosted by the Agency for Jeju Plant Resources Dendropanax, as well as Jeju National University and local NGO Global Inner Peace.
    The event will open with a brief orientation session to explain IDB and Jeju's biodiversity, followed thereafter by trekking through Seonheul Gotjawal (lava forest) and Dongbekdongsan Ramsar Wetland. These sites are representative of Jeju's rich biodiversity. They are also the place of origin of Jeju's ginseng tree (dendropanax). By promoting awareness through events like this, the pledge to preserve Jeju's unique biodiversity can be renewed for future generations.

국제생물다양성의날 기념식 행사 개최 및 제주 선흘곶 동백동산 트레킹

국제생물다양성의날을 맞이하여 대한민국 제주도에서 제주자원식물황칠사업단, 국립제주대학교, 시민단체 글로벌이너피스의 공동주관으로 약 150명의 시민과 외국인이 모여 기념식 행사를 개최하고, 제주 생물다양성의 보고라고 할 수 있는 선흘곶자왈 동백동산을 탐방합니다. 황칠나무 등 제주자원식물 자생지이자, 람사르습지에 등록된 먼물깍 습지를 볼 수 있습니다. 화산활동이 빚어낸 천연의 곶자왈에서 제주의 생물다양성을 지키고 우리 후손들에게 그대로 물려줄 수 있 수 있기를 함께 다짐해봅니다.


Crying Out Biodiversity in The Center of Culture

  • “Crying Out Biodiversity in the Center of Culture” was held to celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity on 29 May at the Seoul International Food Film Festival(SIFFF). The visitors of the Film Festival joined the event by sharing their photographs with hashtag #biodiversity or #IDB. Biodiv Inc. organized this event to increase public awareness of biodiversity.
