International Symposium: Biodiversity of Pakistan: Prospects and Associated Issues, 22-24 May 2016, Baragali summer campus
The University of Peshawar had celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May 2005. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government was the chief guest at that occasion. He provided 83 acres of land for the establishment of a Biodiversity Centre and Botanical Garden, the Federal Government provided required financial support. This garden is situated at a distance of 40 Kilometers from the main campus of the Peshawar University. The University provided all necessary support. Now there are education programs at B.Sc, M. Phil and Ph.D in Biodiversity and Conservation in addition to the Botanical Garden which is the largest in the country and recognized by BGCI.
Again, 22 May falls on Sunday. The Department of Botany of the University of Peshawar has organized a 3-day International Symposium at Baragali summer campus w.e.f. 22-24 May 2016. The theme is Biodiversity of Pakistan: Prospects and Associated Issues. Delegates from USA, Brazil, Turkey, Saudi Arabia are attending in addition to national participants.
The Inaugural Ceremony showcases a video message by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Braulio Ferreira de Souza Dias.
