Notification 2005-088

Dear Madam/Sir, This notification serves to bring to your kind attention paragraph 2 of recommendation 1/1 of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Protected Areas which met in Montecatini, Italy, from 13 to 17 June 2005. In this recommendation, the Group invited the Executive Secretary to compile a list of existing ecological criteria for identification of potential marine areas for protection and biogeographical classification systems based on submissions received from the Parties, other governments and organizations. In the same recommendation, the Group also requested the Executive Secretary to synthesize the received information, for reference by the Parties. Accordingly, Parties, other governments and organizations are hereby invited to submit information on this matter as soon as possible but no later than 31 August 2005.
