At its tenth meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 7 to 11 February 2005, the Subsidiary Body on Scientific Technical and Technological Advice decided, in its recommendation X/13, to establish an Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) on Biodiversity and Climate Change. After due consideration, taking into account the nominees’ expertise and experience related to biological diversity and climate change as well as to geographic distribution and gender balance, I am pleased to inform you that the AHTEG on Biodiversity and Climate Change has been established.

Dear Madam/Sir, At its tenth meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 7 to 11 February 2005, the Subsidiary Body on Scientific Technical and Technological Advice decided, in its recommendation X/13, to establish an Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) on Biodiversity and Climate Change. In particular, SBSTTA decided that the focus of the AHTEG be on adaptation to climate change. The AHTEG shall complete its work in time for the eleventh meeting of SBSTTA scheduled for November 2005. In Notification Ref: 2005-017 dated 16 February 2005, National Focal Points were invited to submit nominations for the Advisory Group. After due consideration, taking into account the nominees’ expertise and experience related to biological diversity and climate change as well as to geographic distribution and gender balance, I am pleased to inform you that the AHTEG on Biodiversity and Climate Change has been established. Please note that the Group will convene in Helsinki, Finland from 13 to 16 September 2005.
