Notification 2006-006

Second meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-Ended Working Group on Liability and Redress in the Context of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (BSWG-LR-2) 20-24 February 2006, Montreal, Canada

Dear Madam/Sir, Further to our notification of 22 November 2005, I would like to confirm to you that the second meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-Ended Working Group on Liability and Redress in the Context of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety will take place as scheduled. However, please note that due to the limited amount of pledges that we have received so far as voluntary contributions for facilitating the participation of Parties, the Secretariat is in a position to finance the participation of one representative ONLY from each of the least developed countries (LDCs) and small island developing States (SIDs) that are Parties to the Protocol. The participation of representatives from other developing countries and countries with economies in transition will have to be funded by their own Governments. Accordingly, the Secretariat will issue funding letters to those representatives from LDCs and SIDs who have been officially nominated by their Governments to participate in this meeting. I regret any inconvenience that may arise as a result of this arrangement. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration
