Notification 2006-110

Revised dates for submission of inputs Programme of Work on Article 8(j) and related provisions

Dear Madam/Sir, I am writing in connection with decision VIII/5 of the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties on Article 8j and related provisions and the preparatory work for the fifth meeting of the Working Group on Article 8j and related provisions (WG8J-5). In earlier Notifications 2006-073, 2006-074, 2006-076 and 2006-077, all dated 27 June 2006, the Secretariat invited Parties, other governments, indigenous and local communities and non-governmental organizations to submit views on different matters concerning the Programme of Work on Article 8(j) and related provisions. Taking into account the fact that the Fifth Meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-Ended Working Group on Article 8(j) and related provisions is scheduled to be held in Montreal, Canada, from 17-21 September 2007, and in order to facilitate the timely preparation of background documentation for the meeting, it would be greatly appreciated if the contributions regarding the above-mentioned notifications are submitted no later than 16 February 2007, which is therefore the new revised date for such submissions. This will ensure that the submissions received are properly reflected in the documentation for the meeting. The earlier Notifications are available, for ease of reference, on the CBD web site at the following link: http://www.biodiv.org/notifications.aspx?page=ntf (Article 8(j): Traditional Knowledge, Innovations and Practices). Accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
