Dates and venue of the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP/MOP-4) and the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP-9).
Dear Madam/Sir, You will recall that, in decision VIII/33, the Conference of the Parties welcomed the generous offer of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to host the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP/MOP-4) and the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP-9) at a date and venue to be specified by the host country in consultation with the Bureau and the Executive Secretary. I am pleased to inform you that, pursuant to this decision, the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention will be held in Bonn, Germany, respectively, on 12-16 May and 19-30 May 2008. I also take this opportunity to draw your attention to the attached schedule for the circulation of documents prior to meetings during the period leading to, and including, COP/MOP-4 and COP-9. Both the schedule of documents and the calendar of meetings are available on the Secretariat website at www.biodiv.org. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
