Notification 2006-118

Joint Article 8(j) and Clearing-House Mechanism Capacity-Building Workshop on Networking and Information Exchange (Latin America and the Caribbean Region), Quito, Ecuador, 14-16 December 2006.

Dear Madam/Sir, I have the honour to refer to Notification 2006-103 dated 2 October 2006 regarding the above-mentionned workshop which seeks to enhance the capacity of the countries in the region by sharing experiences on networking and information exchange, including new information and web-based technologies, with a focus on the special needs of indigenous and local communities. In this regard, I am pleased to inform Parties and indigenous and local communities that the selection of participants to the workshop has been completed. The list of CBD/CHM National Focal Points and indigenous and local Communities applicants selected to receive funding is contained in Annex 1. It should be noted that the workshop is being held in Quito, Ecuador, back-to-back with the meeting of the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB)/IUCN on Indicators to allow for a large participation of indigenous representatives at a minimal cost. For this reason, Annex II contains a list of participants that will receive DSA only, since they will be already participating in the Indicators Workshop and their travel will be covered by IUCN/IIFB. A letter of invitation will be sent shortly to the selected participants together with further information regarding the workshop. I thank you for your cooperation and continued support to the work of the Convention. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
