Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to inform you that the third meeting of the informal consultation on the development of a strategy for resource mobilization in support of the achievement of the Convention’s objectives will be held on Saturday, 16 February 2008, from 09:00 am to10:30 am, at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), located at Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, 00100 Rome, Italy. It is proposed that the third informal consultation consider the following documents under preparation for the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, which are available on the CBD website at http://www.cbd.int/meetings/: 1. Draft strategy for resource mobilization in support of the achievement of the Convention’s objectives (UNEP/CBD/COP/9/16/Add.1), supported by document UNEP/CBD/COP/9/INF/14 (Submission from the Secretariat of the Global Environment Facility) 2. Draft message on biological diversity and finance to the International Conference on Financing for Development (UNEP/CBD/COP/9/16/Add.2) 3. Elements for the four-year (2010-2014) framework for programme priorities related to utilization of GEF resources for biological diversity (UNEP/CBD/COP/9/24), supported by UNEP/CBD/COP/9/INF/15 (Compilation of the past guidance provided by the Conference of the Parties to the Global Environment Facility) You are invited to participate in the third meeting of the informal consultation and are kindly requested to inform the Secretariat at your earliest convenience in order to make necessary arrangements.
