CD-ROM on the application of the Addis Ababa Principles and Guidelines for the Sustainable Use of Biodiversity within the biodiversity-related conventions
Dear Madam/Sir, At its fifth meeting in 2006, the Liaison Group of the Biodiversity-related Conventions (generally known as the Biodiversity Liaison Group) decided to develop an interactive CD-ROM on the application of the Addis Ababa Principles and Guidelines (AAPG) for the Sustainable Use of Biodiversity within the biodiversity-related conventions (decision VII/12). The preparation of this CD-ROM is now complete and the Biodiversity Liaison Group is pleased to announce the launch of the first edition. Composed of four sections, it contains information on the application of the AAPG by the six biodiversity-related conventions, the full text of the principles and guidelines, relevant decisions, recommendations and resolutions, background documents, as well as other materials, including links to relevant websites. This collaborative endeavour by the Biodiversity Liaison Group aims to promote greater awareness and use of the principles and guidelines. It also exemplifies a strategic and collaborative use of data resources by the secretariats of the biodiversity-related conventions to meet more effectively the information needs of their Parties. In due course, the information on this CD-ROM will also be made available through the web. Copies of the CD-ROM are available at the Secretariat upon request.
